Yamaha Pocketrak USB Recorder

Yamaha Pocketrak USB Recorder
Some people might think that audio recorders are something of the past, but there are still groups of people that use it daily, like podcasters or journalists doing interviews. For those people, Yamaha presented the Pocketrak 2G. The pocket recorder can be connected to a computer via USB to transfer data, and the internal memory has capacity for 2GB. On top of the microphone, the Yamha recorder has a built-in speaker and a (stereo) headphone jack. The Yamaha Pocketrak USB Recorder is kind of expensive, it will cost $450 when it hits the shelves in April, but maybe the leather case is one of the reasons that makes the price go up. SONY MAY THIN OUT PS3 PRODUCT LINE

SONY MAY THIN OUT PS3 PRODUCT LINE
According to sources following the development of the Playstation 3, Best Buy is discontinuing the sale of both the 80GB and 60GB models of the Playstation 3. Only the 40GB model, which sells for $399 and is not backwards compatible with earlier Playstation games will remain. The rumor stems from a post by PS3Fanboy on his blog citing an anonymous Best Buy employee who apparently fed him this internal memo: “The 80GB version of the PS3 is going closeout and won’t be replaced at this time,”… “It will come off the planogram on Jan. 28. The 60GB version should already be gone from stores. (Read the full post about ‘SONY MAY THIN OUT PS3 PRODUCT LINE’…)

The Force Unleashed … will the tech behind it make it the greatest game ever?

The Force Unleashed … will the tech behind it make it the greatest game ever?
Now that the power of gaming graphics has risen to the point that games are blurring the lines of reality entertainment, one has to ask … could LucasArts “The Force Unleashed” be the greatest game ever? Designed with three different simulation technologies, The Force Unleashed is being designed to push the envelope in Xbox, Wii, and Playstation 3 consoles. And judging by the video below that talks about the tech behind the game, it just may be. The game’s premise is a simple one. The gamer is Darth Vader’s secret apprentice and after much training, the Force has unleashed incredible powers in this padawan learner. Designed around three major simulation technologies, TFU is more than a game, it may actually be a Force simulation. New Era has some rather pricey game inspired caps on the market.  The caps, which feature boldly colored Pacman and Space Invaders motifs might not give you street cred, but they ooze geek cred.  All but the most hardcore geeks will probably avoid these, but if any of you out there are looking for a game hat that you can wear in the privacy of your own home, this is it. The price, unfortunately is $55 per hat, which is what most people would pay for semi-stylish head wear and as much as a new game. (Read the full post about ‘Geeky Headgear from New Era’…)

Steampunk NERF Weaponry [Weapons]

Steampunk NERF Weaponry [Weapons]
Fact: NERF glocks are way cooler than their gunpowder-based alternatives. And steampunk (like certain varieties of sharp orange cheese) makes everything better. That’s why we’re flipping out over these customized steampunk NERF guns by Chris Furniss (even though you may have seen them before). It doesn’t appear that Furniss fabricated anything, and instead scraped off the toy logos and painted the pistols to looks like an aged mixture of metals. Sadly, these two pistols don’t appear to be for sale. (Read the full post about ‘Steampunk NERF Weaponry [Weapons]’…)

Learn to tokidoki at Lynda.com

Learn to tokidoki at Lynda.com
Fans of tokidoki might be excited to know that the Italian artist behind tokidoki, Simone Legno, has contributed a training course on his Adobe Illustrator methods to the Lynda.com training library. Simone Legno’s story is an inspiring one for any character artist - a set of characters he once created on his personal website exploded into an enormously popular brand, with products for girls (and women) bearing images of his characters. You can shop for tokidoki products (some quite pricey, like this Trenino laptop bag, which goes for $298). Teenage girls I know swoon when they come across tokidoki bags, cosmetics, jewelry and clothing. It’s a phenomenon. Check out tokidoki: Creative Inspiration on Lynda.com. Verizon, AT&T Respect Your SMS Privacy [Privacy]
Verizon and AT&T have both gone on record saying they do not record SMS communications. The privacy debate is one that, understandably, gets emotions stirred, but you can all rest a little easy knowing the official stances of two of the major cellular networks. Erica Sevilla, a Verizon spokeswoman, said:I think people can feel comfortable we’re not storing information that can later be used against them. Unless you have something stored on your phone or on a recipients’ phone, it does not stay on our network for a long period.AT&T said they do not store SMS messages beyond 72 hours, which are only kept for delivery purposes. TDVisor-HD: world’s first “portable” 720p 3D visualization system is still impractical

TDVisor-HD: world’s first “portable” 720p 3D visualization system is still impractical
Posted Jan 26th 2008 10:11AM by Darren MurphFiled under: HDTV, Home Entertainment, Portable VideoCES 2008 brought us plenty of gimmicky 3D-related gadgetry, a bit that was respectable, and apparently, the TDVisor-HD. Nearly three weeks after the show concluded, TDVision Systems has just now gotten around to tossing out a press release boasting about how much fun was had by folks stopping by and checking out the “world’s first portable, all digital, high-def 3D visualization system.” Unfortunately, we’re left to ponder on precisely what this thing is, but as best we can tell, it’s yet another Virtual Boy-esque device, ‘cept this one does 720p (and 3D). Per usual, a price and release date are conveniently absent, but considering th (Read the full post about ‘TDVisor-HD: world’s first “portable” 720p 3D visualization system is still impractical’…)
