The latest multimedia speakers from Sony, the SRS-ZX1 measures approximately 5″ deep and 6″ tall. They aim to make you feel as though you are in a recording studio or at a live concert, which translates to the most lifelike sound possible thanks to its unique mobius-band shape of the duct in the solid aluminum speakers that reduces wind noise to deliver deceptively large, crisp sound from speakers so small. The duct design is merged with a digital signal processor to function as Sony’s “turbo shift” technology, moving bass sounds in the inaudible frequency range to the audible range for an enriched bass experience.

MacBook Pro users will soon be pinching, swiping and rotating away along with their Air counterparts thanks to today’s refresh. But strangely, while Apple added its multitouch goodness to the high-end laptop, it neglected to alter the size of the trackpad.
Recall that the macbook air — Apple’s first notebook to incorporate some of the same multitouch gestures found on the iphone and ipod Touch — features a trackpad of substantial girth, the theory being that a larger pad facilitates these new multitouch gestures.
Some analysts expected that when Apple was ready to incorporate the same technology in its other notebooks (which does require a new trackpad and controller) the fatty variety would be incorporated too.

Chips with six cores may be arriving as early as 2008. Sun leaked some slides featuring Penryn-based “Dunnington” a processor that will feature three cores on each side of the die with 16MB of shared L3 cache. Intel has previously talked about their Nehalem chip which will feature 4-core and 8-core models. Dunnington seems like it will be a bridge to Nehalem as perhaps the 8-core chips will just be a little bit too expensive and hot to handle when they arrive.

The Urban Street Concept Bike from Cube belongs to the descriptively obvious school of product naming. The carbon fiber bicycle is yet another take on the folding bike theme, an increasingly popular niche (and if you don’t know why you’d need a folder, try living in a European apartment with no elevator and tiny rooms).
The bike collapses around a central hub just behind the handlebars, which is locked and released by the red handle you see in the photograph. The seat post slides in and the rear wheel flips around the bottom bracket (counter-clockwise as shown). Designer Gregor Dauth claims that the fully-folded Cube will fit in either a tiny Smart car, or inside a rucksack.

Apple has quietly updated the MacBook Pro line, and it’s a pretty big bump. Most importantly, the pro notebook gets the macbook air’s multi touch pad. The 15″ models come in at 2.4 and 2.5Ghz, with 200GB and 250GB hard drives, respectively, and the 17″ shares specs with the top end 15″. All three come with the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT as standard, and all three keep the same prices as the previous lineup, starting at $2000.
Interestingly, the case design seems unchanged.

Peter Molyneux and his studio Lionhead Studios are taking a slightly different approach to using Xbox Live in the run up to the release of Fable 2. Rather than releasing a demo of the game to whet our appetites, they are going to release parts of the game early.
The announcement was made during the Game Developer Conference held last week in San Francisco. Fable 2 contains a number of mini-games that the player will be able to play to earn money. It is Lionhead’s intention to make these games available via Xbox Live prior to the launch of the full game so players can earn money in advance.
Two things are not clear from the announcement.
