Fujitsu’s LifeBook P8010 gets reviewed

Fujitsu’s LifeBook P8010 gets reviewed
Posted Mar 5th 2008 12:29PM by Darren MurphFiled under: Laptops Believe it or not, it wasn’t even two months ago that we laid hands on the up and coming Fujitsu LifeBook P8010 at CES, and shortly after becoming available to the masses, PC Magazine has rounded one up for review. Right out of the box, the unit was praised for feeling oh-so-light (2.8-pounds, for those counting) and including a built-in optical drive. Unfortunately, such a small footprint left little room for a full-fledged keyboard, and besides feeling “cramped,” performance was nothing to write home about either. Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 available

After months of speculation and a week of “release is imminent” warnings, Microsoft has released Beta 1 of Internet Explorer 8 to coincide with the Mix 2008 conference. IE8 has a number of new and interesting features, some of which are actually pretty original and innovative.

Chief among these additions are Activities and WebSlices. Activities are “contextual services [that] quickly access a service from any webpage.” The feature essentially streamlines dual multiple function activities like copying text to search.

Microsoft stocks up on Heroes soda, clearly has a thing for lemon-lime

Microsoft stocks up on Heroes soda, clearly has a thing for lemon-lime
Posted Mar 5th 2008 7:20AM by Darren MurphFiled under: Misc. gadgets We’re not exactly sure what’s up with using sodas to celebrate the launch of something, but apparently, the folks in Redmond just totally dig it. For (at least) the second time in as many years, Microsoft has selected a lemon-lime beverage to create buzz (and fizz, we suppose) about a particular product launch. C’mon Microsoft, we know you like to stick to your guns, but what’s a fellow got to do to get some rebadged NuGrape?Tags: mobile devices, mobiles, mobile phone, gaming (Read the full post about ‘Microsoft stocks up on Heroes soda, clearly has a thing for lemon-lime’…)

Olympus unveils world’s lightest, smallest digital SLR

Olympus unveils world’s lightest, smallest digital SLR
Olympus has unveiled the world’s lightest and smallest digital SLR named E-420 to integrate the simplicity of point-and-shoot digital cameras with high quality images associated with professional cameras. More than that, this new product marks the entry of more affordable digital SLR with its estimated street price of $499. But you have to shell out an extra hundred bucks to get a 14-42mm digital zoom lens or $200 more for 25mm lens. The Olympus E-420 is expected to hit the market this coming May 2008. Hopefully this will encourage other players to come out with their own line of affordable DSLR’s for trigger-happy consumers. Olympus Evolt E-420: smallest, lightest, possibly most retro DSLR

Olympus Evolt E-420: smallest, lightest, possibly most retro DSLR
Posted Mar 5th 2008 2:04AM by Ryan BlockFiled under: Digital Cameras There’s certainly something to be said for the Olympus E-420, which only takes up 5.1 x 3.6 x 2.1-inches and 13.4 ounces in your bag — but that totally 80s body style is getting tired. Would it really have killed them to update the look from the E-410 and the rest of the line? Still, it’s not the most expensive DSLR you’ve ever met, and it does have a 10 megapixel sensor with live view, 2.7-inch display, and ISO up to 1600 (meh).
