Review: Nyko’s Zero Wireless Controller for PS3

Review: Nyko’s Zero Wireless Controller for PS3
Let’s get ready to rumble! Sony once said it couldn’t be done, but after settling some legal troubles, we know it’s possible to have motion-sensing technology and rumble in the same controller. The official unit–the Dual Shock 3–is already out in Japan, and will come to the U.S. in mid-April. But Nyko’s already beaten Sony to market, offering a third-party solution to get your cake and eat it, too. Read on to find out if Nyko’s PS3 solution is as good as its Cord-Free for Wii Nunchuck. The box is pretty jam-packed, and it’s immediately clear that you’re getting a lot more technology than in the sixaxis controller, which comes with the PS3. Adjustable tv stand for Wii fanatics

Adjustable tv stand for Wii fanatics
I’ve never heard anyone complain that their Wii skills are hampered by their inability to adjust their tv screen to eye level when they’re standing, but then again, I don’t know any true Wii fanatics (only normal Wii players who only occasionally get caught in 15-hour Guitar Hero marathons). For the obsessed, this stand adjusts to sitting and standing positions with a remote control. Available at Thanko’s Rare Mono Shop (in Japanese) for about $675. Via Digital World Tokyo. Colorful, individual egg boilers by Eiko

Colorful, individual egg boilers by Eiko
I don’t know how long you have to boil an egg to make it soft or hard or somewhere in between, only that if I forget I’m boiling eggs long enough that the pot is dry of water when I get back to the kitchen, then the eggs are probably very well cooked and likely to be inedible. No, it’s never occurred to me to use an egg timer, even though I like my eggs soft-boiled and am really pickly about the degree of softness when I order at a restaurant. I love these egg boilers by Eiko enough to motivate me to learn the nuances of egg boiling (please, no snide comments about how painfully easy it is) so that I can make my eggs soft and my daughter’s eggs hard but not rubbery. Bookshelf blog offers some unusual and innovative storage solutions

Bookshelf blog offers some unusual and innovative storage solutions
Ever since we moved house (um, over a year ago now) I’ve lacked proper storage for my (many many) books. I’m not a hoarder: I’ve given Hefty bags full of books to charity and sold lots of my stash on Amazon, but my windowsill/makeshift bookcase is becoming increasingly overloaded and let’s not even mention the boxes in the hall closet… Rather than actually doing anything about this problem, I’ve been spending time online. More specifically, I’ve taken to drooling over the delicious variety of storage options on display on the internet. I don’t want to rush my decision until I’ve seen what’s on offer, after all. Google Phone is Dream-y

Google Phone is Dream-y
As its release date draws nearer, more and more details concerning HTC’s Google phone are starting to surface. We do know that it will be called “Dream”, featuring a touch screen display, a large QWERTY keyboard for comfortable typing and a body that measures roughly 5″ x 3″. Some speculate that the handset’s keypad can slide or swivel out whenever you want to take down notes or send an email quickly. As for Internet navigation, controls located right below the screen is where the action’s at, just like any other HTC handset. No idea on when the Google phone will be released, but Samsung is also chasing after HTC. Whoever gets the Google phone out first will probably obtain bragging rights to it. Shoe that Lights Up

Shoe that Lights Up
And no, I don’t mean smoking. The Pioneer shoe is one footwear that works great when worn long after the sun has gone down, since it converts mechanical movement and energy from walking into electric power. Electricity is harvested and stored in a battery located at the shoe’s sole, and can be used to light up a bulb integrated into the shoe’s sole so that you will be able to have a better idea of where and what you’re walking into without having to lug around and additional flashlight. The internal battery is said to last for up to 12 hours when fully charged, and it won’t suffer any circuit breaks since the Pioneer shoe comes with a waterproof surface and sole. Anyone Else Getting Electric Shocks From Their Apple Keyboards?

Anyone Else Getting Electric Shocks From Their Apple Keyboards?
Apple’s new metal keyboards, released to go with the latest iMacs, are objects of beauty: good, clean industrial-style design. However, mine is giving me shocks. It’s the wired version, with the integrated USB ports. At first, I thought it was just static, but the current is consistent: it feels like a kind of rippling numbness, that goes away if I’m not grounded. It’s quite faint, but annoying enough to have me careful how I type. The keyboard’s plugged into an Intel C2D iMac, itself plugged in to a grounded outlet. My home has a modern breaker box. Dodgy keyboard? Bad ground somewhere? (Read the full post about ‘Anyone Else Getting Electric Shocks From Their Apple Keyboards?’…)

Samsung’s Hauzen Cleaning Robot keeps floors, homeowners happy

Samsung’s Hauzen Cleaning Robot keeps floors, homeowners happy
Posted Mar 20th 2008 9:02AM by Darren MurphFiled under: Household Samsung’s no stranger to automated floor sucking creatures, but the latest from the outfit is looking to give your Roomba a real run for its money. The Hauzen VC-RE70V sports a fairly attractive shell along with a built-in camera to “see” where it’s going; better still, it can reportedly snap pictures of rooms as it goes in order to build a map of your domicile in its “brain” and keep things quick on subsequent cleanings. Laptop bag bonanza - best of the best

Laptop bag bonanza - best of the best
When I started out in business (dinosaurs still roamed the earth), women had no choice in laptop bags; you had to use a “man” bag, a boring black utilitarian-looking thing. Thank goodness that’s all changed. Today we have choices of laptop bags that look like stylish, expensive handbags: fun, flirty ones that weigh nothing yet cradle your laptop, rock n’ roll choices, retro bags, functional yet pretty roller bags. Your bag says as much about you as your FaceBook page these days. In our ongoing effort to narrow down choices for our discerning readers, we present a round-up of road-tested laptop bags.
