If you were an early Windows Vista adopter, you might have had a rough time with Microsoft’s newest operating system last year. Crashes? System hangs? BSODs? Shockingly, Microsoft isn’t at fault for your less than perfect experience. Ars Technica has reported that a 158-page bundle of email correspondence (PDF) regarding the ongoing “Vista Capable” lawsuit has been made public. The data reveals that NVIDIA accounted for 28.8% of Windows Vista crashes last year. In total, 1,663,748 system crashes had been reported to Microsoft in 2007 and NVIDIA was the problem in 479,000 of those cases. In comparison, Microsoft was responsible for 19.9%, ATI took 9.3%, and Intel with 8.8%. (Read the full post about ‘NVIDIA drivers, the leading cause of Vista crashes?’…)

Here’s a waterbed that not only provides superior comfort as you take a break after a long, hard day at the office - it also features a dedicated base plate where you will be able to mount loudpseakers inside the bed. Well, all you need to do then is to hook up a suitable audio source and play your favorite relaxing music. There is no word on pricing, but Akva Sound claims the whole experience will be extremely surreal since it uses water’s unique properties as a carrier of sound and oscillation to envelop you in its embrace. The latest version of the iPhone 2.0 beta software has been released (this time it’s actually called 2.0, not 1.2) and there are already some interesting rumors. The Boy Genius reports that the Safari Browser now has YouTube support built in, so instead of being bumped off to the iphone’s YouTube player, you can stay in the page. The Boy Genius speculates that this might signify the coming of Flash to the iPhone. We say “not likely”. While Steve Job’s flip-flops are well known (He said “Who wants to watch movies on a screen that small?” shortly before the ipod Video was launched), his anti-Flash statement rings true. After all, Flash is terrible on the web. (Read the full post about ‘YouTube Comes to Safari On The iPhone’…)

Posted Mar 31st 2008 1:20AM by Thomas RickerFiled under: Home Entertainment, Portable Audio, Robots Sony just turned out the Rolly music player in black. A surprise blown by the FCC just last week. At least we can wonder at the colorful end-caps at a cost of ¥1,500 (about $15) per. Of course, if you scoffed at the original Rolly, then the April 19th, Japanese release of the new ¥40,000 (about $400) dancing-speaker bot won’t likely tug at your pawnshopped heartstrings either.[Via Impress]Tags: game, home cinema, gizmos, lcd (Read the full post about ‘Sony Rolly busts a color move’…)

Thor, the deer has been “geo-hacked” and undergone an interesting experiment, all in the name of science. Valery Hronusov, a developer of numerous geo-hacks, actually thought up the blog posting deer scenario. Using his tips and ideas, ‘Siberian’, a Google Earth Community member, figured out how to track a deer by attaching a cell phone (to send emails) and a GPS device (to track the movements) of Thor (the deer) throughout a suburban area in Pennsylvania. During Thor’s travels the GPS device sent back tracking coordinates every five minutes. The ingenious automated system used all free services, some tech gadgets, and a spreadsheet to publicize nearly every move Thor makes. Best Buy will be carrying the Windows XP version of its Asus Eee PC 4G for $399 this April 9th - so those who have been hankering after this uber-mobile piece of computing will be able to break open their piggy banks a day earlier and start counting all those pennies and quarters. All the hardware will remain exactly the same as the Linux-powered version, with the only difference being the operating system. Somehow 512MB RAM and such limited memory makes me a skeptic - I guess I had best bring a portable hard drive with me wherever I go in order to complement the Eee PC 4G. The Nintendo Wii Wheel has been priced at $14.99 when it is released this April 27th. After all, it would be more fun if your friends can drop by and play using the Wii Wheel just like you instead of holding the Wiimote horizontally. After all, whenever you pick up Mario Kart Wii for $49.99, it will already come with a Wii Wheel inside. $14.99 is a whole lot to pay for just a piece of plastic if you ask me, but that won’t stop legions of Mario Kart fans from snapping this up when it is available.
