Shooting panoramic photos can be pretty fun, considering how it adds a whole new dimension to the viewer especially when you are faced with a scenic view. However, getting the right shots can get pretty tricky, which is where the Panamatic comes in handy. Specially designed to mount on any standard tripod, the Panamatic hopes to make sure that all photos snapped are properly lined up with the next to make it easier to stitch together on a computer later on. A full rotation will result in a dozen photos that make it a snap to stitch, and the Panamatic can also be mounted vertically to shoot really, really tall objects such as skyscrapers. Definitely a $24.95 must buy for those who have a strong interest in photography. (Read the full post about ‘Panamatic Makes Panoramic Shots a Snap’…)

As one of the mainstays in supercomputing, Cray has been cozying up to AMD in recent years and increasingly relying on the chipmaker’s Opteron server processors to power its latest supercomputers. But if a new partnership between Cray and AMD’s main rival is any indication, that chummy relationship may now be in jeopardy. Intel and Cray have announced a new multi-year agreement where the chipmaker will provide both chips and “silicon expertise” to Cray, which will in turn design a new line of supercomputers and servers based on the Intel’s Xeon chips. by Joshua Topolsky, posted Apr 29th 2008 at 3:04PM French site MobileHub has gotten its hands on another Eee competitor rip-off — the Airis’ Kira 740 (aka, Kira 100) — and has given it the rundown. The initial impressions are about what you’d expect, besides coming with XP onboard, having 1GB of memory, a VIA C7 1GHz CPU, and a traditional 40GB hard drive, the mini-laptop is almost identical to ASUS’ entry. The screen resolution is the same 800 x 480, the keyboard is apparently a shot-for-shot remake, and it features familiar ethernet and WiFi networking options. You can see in the photo above that there are some minor physical differences, though in our opinion they’ve somehow managed to ugly it up + 30 percent. Now the USB Cleaner Mouse is a rather nifty idea - after all, not only does it allow you to navigate through the Windows environment with greater ease compared to using keyboard shortcuts, it even comes with a built-in vacuum cleaner within which sucks up dirt and dust from your desk at the touch of a button. I wouldn’t leave the vacuum on while using the mouse as a pointer though, since it will definitely cause enough ruckus to irritate your cubicle neighbors. Well, at $19 a pop, this isn’t such a bad device to try out just for kicks, but it isn’t recommended if you’re into precision movement (especially for gamers). THIS is why I LOVE Nicole Lee. MarioKart for the Wii by Nicole Lee from Flickr A blurry picture of Mario Kart for the Wii tells me what I should have already known. Mario Kart was released THREE days ago. How I missed the news, I don’t know, but I’m heading to the video store right now to go pick it up. (Read the full post about ‘Mario Kart for the Wii’…)

With so many different wireless technologies around today, there is still one place that way too many cords are found, and that’s behind your TV. For some people, they have multiple gaming consoles, home theater receivers, cable TV and more running back there. Well Sharp has finally stepped up to the plate and created a device for their high-end TVs that will eliminate all but your power cord. The wireless standard that makes this possible is WHDI (Wireless High Definition Interface). This allows HDMI signals to be transmitted in full 1080p, so there is no loss of quality. All of your TV inputs are routed through the box you see above, and then transmitted to the TV without any extra work. (Read the full post about ‘Sharp eliminates the wires from your HDTV’…)

We don’t normally get too excited about printers, but when a company claims to have introduced the “smallest ever” of anything, our ears prick up. Apparently, the Korean electronics-maker has distilled color laser printers into their purest, tiniest form with the CLP-315K and CLX-3175FNK, clocking in at 20- and 40-percent smaller than previous iterations, respectively. The printers still sport fancy-pants features, like printing at up to 2,400 x 600 dpi, 32MB of onboard memory, and — at least on the CLX-3175FNK — the ability to print from a USB key. by Joshua Fruhlinger, posted Apr 29th 2008 at 10:06AM Because history has proven that hard drives must get smaller and more capacious, Verbatim went and released the 500GB 2.5-inch SmartDisk HDD. Despite claims from others, Verbatim says this marks the first available 9.5mm Z-height 2.5-inch hard disk. The drive is made up of three 166GB platters striped with Perpendicular Magnetic Recording at 5400RPM. With enclosure, it weighs in at less than 6 ounces and measures 3.38-inches by 5.38-inches by 0.63-inches in both USB and USB / FireWire combo versions.
