I could swear that I have seen something like that elsewhere but, I can’t remember where: Toshiba will setup the USB ports of its laptops so that users can charge stuff using the USB ports – even when the computer is turned OFF. This will work thanks to a sleep-and-charge USB port that will always have some power. While this is touted as an “innovative technology”, I don’t think that it is hard to do but I have to praise Toshiba for being the first (?) to do it. On May 25, AT&T will begin pro-rating its early termination fees — they’ll drop $5 a month for every month of service — on both annual and two-year contracts. Verizon’s already doing this, and Sprint and T-Mobile have said they will also follow suit.
Alas, it isn’t out of the kindness of their hearts, but is designed to help head off proposed regulation to curtail various sundry evils at play in the cellular business.

BenQ just released more information on its T60 cell phone that manages to cram in a 2.2″ LCD display at 320 x 240 resolution and a 3.2 megapixel camera into a body that measures just 8.9mm thin. BenQ aims for the T60 to be a fashion handset, which makes perfect sense for its software to include a caller black list function - after all, you can’t be seen hanging out with sore losers in the eyes of society whenever you go out, right? Other features include :- Integrated FM radio tuner 24MB internal memory microSD memory card slot Support for common audio and video file formats Bluetooth 2.0 connectivityThe battery life is very disappointing though, as you get the maximum of 2.5 hours of talk time, while standby time has been rated at 200 hours. Blizzard announced today the newest iteration of its popular World of Warcraft series, Molten Core. The new game is said to feature glorious 192i graphics, the ability to move in ANY of 8 possible directions and–as if all of that wasn’t enough–it also has sound.
Perhaps more importantly, though, is that the game will be available on console: “Blizzard got its start in console gaming, and we’ve always been excited about returning to this arena,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. “Additionally, we’ve wanted to reintroduce the 40-player raid dungeon experience for some time.

An 11-year old sixth grader from Sherwood, Arkansas is presently his school’s computer network administrator. John Penn of Victory Baptist School took over the school’s network when the former IT admin just left, leaving her mother, the school’s librarian, additional workload as computer support. Penn who likes to read computer trade magazines, has always been know as the computer whiz in his school. When he took over the job, he found out that old Windows 98 PCs, all of 60 of them, did not have any anti-virus installed. He then suggested for the school to spend some money on the McAfee Secure Internet Gateway Appliance. Before this, he had to map out the network first on his own. We’d prefer to see video of this in action, but the photo pretty much says it all. Flickr member sakjosep dropped his iphone onto concrete and the glass splintered. The home button is “somewhere in my apt but I can’t find it” and the touch-screen continues to work flawlessly, with “no dead spots at all”. A tribute to good engineering, or just dumb luck? Oh no [Flickr via TUAW] Tags: mobile devices, lcd, video game, hdtv (Read the full post about ‘IPhone With Shattered Screen Still Working Fine’…)

First, HD-DVD died. Then, Steve "Monkey Boy" "Enthusiastic CEO" Ballmer confirmed that Microsoft would support Blu-ray in "ways that make sense." One day later, Stan Glasgow, Sony Electronics’ U.S. president, said his company was already in talks with both Microsoft and Apple about adding Blu-ray drives to their hardware. This was apparently news to Aaron Greenberg, group product manager for Xbox 360, who corrected that statement in an interview with Reuters, saying that "Xbox is not currently in talks with Sony or the Blu-ray Association to integrate Blu-ray into the Xbox experience." Now, a new report from Digitimes claims that Lite-On, which is currently one of the suppliers of Xbox 360’s internal DVD-ROM drives, is developing built-in Blu-ray drives for the Microsoft’s console.
