Looks like the Motorola booth had a red Sidekick Slide on display this year at CTIA 2008. No word yet on when it will hit market (if it even will). I know a lot of people quoted the purple color as being a reason they steered away from the Slide. In my personal opinion the red looks sexy, and I’d totally rock it. The developers behind Snapture, a new camera enhancement add-on for the iPhone, don’t pull any punches on the product site: While the iPhone itself is a slick package, the fact of the matter is most of the Apple built apps are mediocre and overly simplistic - to point where features are sacrificed. It’s like buying a new sports car and driving it at the speed limit. That’s a valid point, and the five authors of the software didn’t just complain: they did something about it. Snapture adds many new features that should have been built in. There’s burst mode which captures three frames in a row, a 3X digital zoom, a grayscale setting, proper 360º auto-rotation (for snapping pictures upside down), a level (which appears to use the iPhone’s accelerometers) and support for different image sizes. Ever took a stroll along the banks of a river, only to catch a glimpse of a pretty large fish making its way through the murky depths? Why, the fishing bug within you is stirred and you mutter your frustrations under your breath that you did not bring all your fishing equipment with you. The Pen Fishing Rod aims to alleviate this guilt, allowing you to have a go at impromptu fishing. Ok, this clever little gadget is about the size of a large marker pen at only eight inches long, and yet opens up to become an aluminium alloy 4ft fishing rod, complete with a left and right handed reel (packed separately), a 5lb breaking strain line, and even includes a triple hook spinner. It’s official–Lenovo is out of the mobile handset business. Many people may not even have known that Lenovo had a handset business (the handsets were sold primarily in China), but PCWorld reported that Lenovo completed the sale of its handset unit on March 31st.
Lenovo’s mobile handset division had been suffering over the last year, which drove the company to consider selling it. According to PCWorld, handset shipments for the mobile unit declined 31 percent in the quarter ending in December of last year. The sale will be reflected in the company’s latest quarter which ended March 31st.
There are just too many handset businesses out there for Lenovo to compete.

NCSoft has taken the decision to introduce advertisements to their popular MMO City of Heroes. The ads will be provided by in-game advertising company Double Fusion who sees the modern urban setting as an ideal environment for serving up ads to users. Players need not despair, however, as NCSoft are making the ads optional and to turn them off you just untick a box in the game options. Brian Clayton, general manager of NCSoft’s Northern Californian studio said: I want to make it very clear that we are not ‘forcing’ in-game ads upon our players … Thus, the word ‘optional’ is of key importance. None of our players have to change their game experience in any way if that’s what they prefer. (Read the full post about ‘City of Heroes gets in-game adverts’…)

We first featured the AeroGarden a looong time ago when they essentially only had 1 model and since then AeroGrow, the manufacturer has launched a number of additional models including this new $100 model.
The AeroGarden 3 has everything you need to grow your own organic herbs and vegetables, using CFLs and less energy than a single 60W bulb. Using its built-in computer, the AeroGarden monitors and adjusts the nutrient delivery, light and water for specific plants. There’s also a reminder system to tell you when you need to add more water and nutrients.
