This seemingly toy-ish Ferrari is in fact a cellphone. The dialing pad is located underneath the car where the axle should be. The idea is interesting, but I agree with my friends from techdigest that I do not like the idea of talking where the back axle is. It’s purely psychological of course, but why do you think that the original ipod was white and shiny like a bathroom? Price: 96 British pounds. BD Touch is a technology from NetBlender that lets your iPhone talk to your Blu-ray player over a WiFi connection. Essentially, it is just a set of tools which allow some fancy remote control of the player using the iPhone interface (including accelerometers), but the list of possibilities looks intriguing. First, applications could be built to leverage the data from a Blu-ray player, building an iTunes like catalog of movies into the iphone, for example, and offering title recommendations. Far more exciting though, is the possibility of sending movies direct from disk to the iPhone, ready to play. (Read the full post about ‘BD Touch Could Send Blu-ray Movies Direct To iPhone’…)

Energy-conserving light bulbs are becoming very cheap these days, and if you are a manufacturer, how do you differentiate yourself with such a commodity? By adding an ionizer that –they claim- will purify the air. First if all, people are still fighting over whether ionic air purifiers work. Even if it does, we don’t know if this light bulb does work as advertised. However, if the two previous “if” are true, then this might be a good idea… but that’s too much “if” for me, I’ll skip. Ben Heckendorn, the man whose life’s work is to make good gadgets better, has built a playstation 3 into a laptop. Inside is the original 60GB model, bought before Sony crippled backward compatibility with PS2 games.
The mod has all the trimmings necessary to make this a true Ben Hack: USB ports, stereo speakers and amp, HDMI connection, full keyboard and a huge 17″ 720p lcd monitor. There’s even a slot loading Blu-ray drive, something not even seen in many “real” notebooks, and the whole box is thinner than a stock PS3, although at 16lbs, this is less a portable and more a luggable.
Ben built this to order for his second home on the web, Engadget, which intends to sell it in a charity auction.

by Darren Murph, posted Apr 10th 2008 at 2:10PMIf you thought sending a SMS in order to gain entry into a public bathroom was on the weird side, get a load of this. An outlandish campaign sparked up in the UK has been sending out weekly text messages to parents in order to remind them of the need to check for head lice on their youngsters. Cleverly coined Beat the Bugs, the program led to the discovery of six cases of lice, and when polling participants at the end of the term, the majority stated that they felt more aware about treatment / prevention and that they were now checking their kids’ heads at least once per week. Sennheiser is offering a trade-in program of sorts for your old headphones. Whether “new, old, broken or used” all you have to do is choose the style of headphones that you want to purchase, fill out their form, gather up your old headphones and mail them in. The trade-in value depends not on the style of headphones that you are sending in, but on the style that you are getting from Sennheiser. The value will range from $5 for Street Earbuds up to $25 for Noise Canceling models. So if you were thinking about replacing those nasty or broken headphones, Sennheiser may be worth checking out. The trade-in offer is valid from April 1 through July 31. (Read the full post about ‘Sennheiser offering cash for your old, broken headphones’…)

No idea what the main idea for the Car Glitter Lamp is exactly, but it sure as heck would look tacky if you’re driving something that’s worth more than a house. After all, glitter flakes swimming with glowing colors seem to appeal more to younger kids (especially girls), so the $22 you fork out for this is rather questionable. It hooks up to your vehicle’s cigarette lighter outlet, measuring 130mm x 15mm x 15mm. Tags: home cinema, equipment, hdtv, Ogg Vorbis (Read the full post about ‘Car Glitter Lamp’…)

Perhaps after all this while grappling with Blue Screens of Death while using Microsoft products, the company’s conscience has finally been pricked as they decide to help you save time instead of waste it with the aforementioned problem by launching a software technology known as “Clearflow”. Not only does this software helps drivers with directions, it can also be used to avoid traffic jams so that you will be able to arrive home in time for dinner with the missus. The technology involved has been in the works for the better part of the last half decade, thanks to the efforts of AI researchers from Microsoft’s Research lab. The clever folks over at Nokia Port have deciphered the riddle behind Nokia’s new touchscreen phone, a.k.a. the “Nokia Tube”. In the rendered image pictured above, you can see what the Nokia Tube touchscreen phone might look like without the fuss. It’s got a lot of striking similarities to Apple’s iphone, which I suspect cannot be helped anyway, since this is really a good design in the first place. But what’s most intriguing is the possibility that this will belong to a new product line, called XpressMedia, with a number designation of 5800.
