Microsoft announced that its acquisition of Danger has been finalized. Although the current employees of Danger will continue to work in their current offices, Danger will be integrated into the newly formed Premium Mobile Experiences (PMX) Team of Microsoft’s Mobile Communications Business unit. Roz Ho, corporate vice-president of Danger said that joining Microsoft’s PMX Team will enable Danger to continue delivering cool, new and fun mobile experiences to its costumers. Let’s just hope that statement proves to be true, otherwise we are going to see lots of angry Danger fans.

In this day and age of high powered mobile phones and web based communication applications, we couldn’t help but wonder if there is still a need for a home phone. The Vtech people must have the same thought on their mind when they were conceptualizing the IS6110 cordless phone that’s why they decided to include an Instant Messaging function. Well, it looks like Vtech might have caught onto something new. For one, their IS6110 cordless phone is the world’s first cordless phone with built-in IM features with support for MSN Messenger, Windows Live Messenger and AOL Instant Messenger. And for that, it certainly deserves some accolades. (Read the full post about ‘Vtech’s launches the IS6110; a cordless phone with instant messaging goodness’…)

by Darren Murph, posted Apr 16th 2008 at 6:17PM Calculator watches, a staple of the average’s geek wardrobe since before your grandmother was born, have been called out, as David Jones’ own homegrown version totally trumps anything out there on the pre-fabricated market today. The cleverly-titled µWatch was born after a Casio CFX-400 bit the dust after years upon years of telling time and determining averages, and while it seems as though a bona fide front panel is still in the works, we’re personally hoping that currently unoccupied Design & Construction portal gets updated with a how-to guide. Check out the read link for a few more shots of the early prototype and the current build.[Via Oh (Read the full post about ‘DIY’er crafts scientific calculator watch, TI-30 is like “what?”’…)

A survey by Infosecurity Europe found that women aren’t too good about keeping their computer passwords a secret. The survey included 576 office workers and was conducted in London outside Liverpool Street Station. Unfortunately, women were more likely to give away their password to a person posing as a market researcher than men by a wide margin. 45% of women versus 10% of men were willing to give their passwords away for the lure of a chocolate bar. Now to be fair, men and women both have a lot they can improve upon when it comes to giving away personal information. Participants were also asked to provide the names and telephone numbers of co-workers to be entered into a drawing to go to Paris. Pioneer is going full steam ahead with its BDP-LX71 Blu-ray player is tipped to arrive on European shores sometime this summer. Some of the improvements include BonusView Profile 1.1 for interactivity, 12-bit deep color support, a 297MHz 12-bit video encoder, and 1080p playback at 24fps. Unfortunately, the BonusView Profile 1.1 just won’t be able to match the PS3 which is already in 2.0, making Sony’s game console one of the better Blu-ray players around. I’m a Nintendo fanboy, so imagine how hard it was for me to say that! Audio-wise, an impressive array of improvements include support for bitstreaming and decoding of all the audio formats (Dolby TrueHD and DRTS-HD Master Audio included). by Darren Murph, posted Apr 16th 2008 at 8:29AM Typically, you’d think a pricey bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne would be the star attraction on a night out, but we’d have to suggest otherwise if said container is being toted around in this thing. The Karim Rashid-designed apparatus, which is limited to just 500 pieces worldwide, is said to be a “modern reinterpretation of the traditional French chandelier.” As for utility, it promises to keep your alcohol chilled for four solid hours, and considering the built-in LEDs will also flicker out after the same amount of time, we suppose that’s a good indicator of when it’s time to toss ‘er back and get going.
