As outlined in a white paper on managing phishing written by its risk management unit, PayPal is set to implement a new policy that will block users from using PayPal from “unsafe browsers.” These browsers include Internet Explorer 4 and 5 and other older version browsers. But don’t worry if you are still using anything unsafe, because PayPal will first warn you about the browser. If you insist on trying to use it even after you were warned, then that’s the time when PayPal will step in and block you from accessing its site. PayPal said that old browsers such as IE 4 are very vulnerable to phishing attacks since they lack the security and safety features of their newer versions which ward off phishing and other forms of online attacks. MacRumors is reporting that Apple could, maybe, possibly, be releasing an aluminum MacBook with MultiTouch. The source? a .Mac site from a user with an @apple.com email address.
Speculation is, well, speculative and such it should be taken with giant blocks of salt. Nevertheless, this is the world of tech blogging and Apple is the primary lovechild of tech rumors. So what’s a week without another one?
At any rate, these sets are supposed to launch at WWDC, so we’ve got until June 10 to speculate wildly. Get started.

by Thomas Ricker, posted Apr 18th 2008 at 10:33AM Samsung and pretty much everyone else is taking a long hard look at their clumsy UIs as consumer electronics continue to commodify. We’ve certainly seen that demonstrated with striking effect with the Samsung F480’s unfortunately named TouchWiz interface. Now take a look at the UI for Samsung’s NV24HD. Besides shooting 720p video, this 10.2 megapixel shooter with 24-mm ultra-wide angle lens features a series of touch-sensitive buttons surrounding a brilliant 2.5-inch AMOLED display. An interesting twist on the lifeless touch-screens we’ve seen on other cameras. However, it does so at the expense of screen size on a crowded back panel. by Thomas Ricker, posted Apr 18th 2008 at 7:16AMEveryone loves the Eee PC, especially now that Asus has increased the display from 7- to 8.9-inches, bumped the webcam to 1.3 megapixels, and widened the track-pad while adding in some nifty multi-touch capabilities. Unfortunately, we’re still looking at a rated 1.5-hours of battery life since the new 900 uses the same power hungy CPU found in the original Eee PC. So where’s Atom and its promise of “significant power savings?” Well, according to Techradar, they’ve been in touch with Taiwan-based ASUS’ UK reps who believe that the Atom-based Eee PC will debut at Computex in early June and then launch globally shortly thereafter. A scale is a scale is a scale, right? Wrong! This Universal Scale concept is different as it can be unfolded to a variety of shapes and sizes in order to make weighing items and people easier and less intrusive, especially for medical patients. I like the fact that you can snap it into place for someone standing up, or even leave it as a chair for folks who prefer to sit. Must be made out of pretty hardy stuff, this. If you happen to be excited with new USB flash drives, then go nuts with the Green-House PicoDrive ST. This new USB flash drive has already started to sell in Japan, with one of the wider capacity ranges ever. After all, who still purchases 128MB USB flash drives? Apparently enough people to warrant a storage capacity from 128MB to 16GB. Regardless of how much data you can store inside, it still remains the same size at 65mm x 19mm x 8mm and tips the scales at 11 grams. All these USB flash drives also have added security with AES 2560bit encryption. Tags: home theater, TV, Ogg, PDA (Read the full post about ‘Green-House has new PicoDrive ST’…)

Apple is reportedly launching the iPhone in India with Vodafone in September. India is extremely important because of the population’s size, but also because the growth is still very high. As of last month, the country was adding 8 million subscribers per month and it was expected to surpass the U.S by now… At an expected price of Rs 28,000 it would be more than six-times the average phone selling price, but there is without doubt a large audience that could afford it. The 8GB iphone should land first, followed by higher capacity versions. (Read the full post about ‘iPhone to Launch in India in September’…)

As a man of twenty five I am comfortable saying that the most challenging, and truly self discovering journey of my life was the transference from CD to digital music. A process that took months of short activity spurts and endless accumulated hours of musical rediscovery from the very depths of my musical collection (talking about Morris Day & Time, and Hanson in one sitting). In the end, like Highlander, “there could be only one” device that is. My trusty iPod, filled with every song I have ever loved up until next new release Tuesday. All in all I tore through 572 CD’s, all colorful and slick, some with scratches, others with little dots indicating that they were not long for this world. Everybody seems to be making their own kind of blogging platform, although most of these are really based on old principles. And sometimes even existing blogging software. Such is the case with the new online service, BayWords.com, launched by the same guys who are responsible for The Pirate Bay, and enabled freeloaders to have a virtual home on the Internet. And now, they’re all set to set you free through your words, with an uncensored blogging service that’s really just a Wordpress-powered blog deep inside. But it’s the thought that counts, they say, and with BayWords, there will be no limit to what thoughts you can publish.
