Eco-friendly Hand-Crank USB Power Charger

Eco-friendly Hand-Crank USB Power Charger
It really wouldn’t be stylish to be caught cranking this USB power charger to rev up your cell phone battery, but in all probability, that would be the last thing on your mind if the battery went lifeless during an important call. This cute little power charger connects to cell phones, cameras or any device with a USB cord. All you have to do is crank the handle on the charger fto add those few minutes of extra battery time on the connected device. Precious and completely eco-friendly. The charger kit contains adapters to fit most cell phones (Motorola, Samsung, Nokia, and LG) and weighs a negligible 6 ounces. And at $39, it fits the wallet quite decently too. WALL-E dancing robot plays MP3s

WALL-E dancing robot plays MP3s
In what amounts to little more than another animated i-Dog speaker alternative, The Sharper Image has recently come forward with the iDance WALL-E MP3-playing robot ($25) in preparation for the buying frenzy that will likely accompany the summer release of Disney-Pixar’s new WALL-E flick. The 8-inch trash-compacting robot dances and makes sounds when it’s packed with a trio of AA batteries and nearby or plugged into an audio source. Pretty cute in a useless sort of way, don’t you think? Via Crave. Tags: mobile phone, TV, Hi-fi, cellphone (Read the full post about ‘WALL-E dancing robot plays MP3s’…)

Webroot turns desktop security into an off-site service

Sharp’s RD-CX310 PMP turns you into walking, talking, rocking dictionary

Sharp’s RD-CX310 PMP turns you into walking, talking, rocking dictionary
Electronics product maker Sharp is thinking of the kids with their latest PMP, and adds a little educational functionality to the thing aside from its regular multimedia features. The name of their new product is the RD-CX310, and it’s a little PMP that other than playing your music and converted videos, tells you the meaning of words via a built in dictionary. But mind you, it doesn’t only have a single dictionary, but a total of 82 dictionaries with English, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, and Korean. Twenty unspecified audio books are also included in the package, supposedly from the world’s best novelists. Best Buy moving in at 17 CompUSA locations

Best Buy moving in at 17 CompUSA locations
As if the CompUSA saga has not been dragged out enough. The stores were being closed, then some were snapped up by Tiger Direct and now we are learning that yet another big-box retail giant will be assuming some of the remaining locations. Reports are claiming that Best Buy has snapped up 17 of the CompUSA retail location leases, which range from three years up to fourteen years for a total of $13.5 million. It seems like CompUSA may have gone away, but instead of something new and exciting coming in return, it appears to be just more of the same standard electronic retail locations. Best Buy is planning on opening a mix of new Best Buy and Pacific Sales stores at these locations over the next two years. (Read the full post about ‘Best Buy moving in at 17 CompUSA locations’…)

MicroHoo is dead; Microsoft officially withdraws bid for Yahoo!

MicroHoo is dead; Microsoft officially withdraws bid for Yahoo!
Well after all the hype during these past three months Microsoft has withdrawn their bid for Yahoo. With the final offer coming in at $33 per share or a total of $47.5 billion, that was just not enough to match the $37 per share or $53 billion that Yahoo was requesting. Steve Ballmer was also later quoted as stating that Microsoft would not proceed with a hostile takeover because they felt Yahoo “would take steps that would make Yahoo undesirable as an acquisition for Microsoft.” That is that, the deal is dead. AT&T looks set on finally releasing SMT 5700 smartphone

AT&T looks set on finally releasing SMT 5700 smartphone
We here at Gadgetell are all for smartphones, and new models, especially the ones that “gotz tha skillz” are never unwelcome. Now we’re hearing that a certain SMT 5700, which has been showing up in various AT&T rebate sheets for quite a while now, could be seeing a launch some time in the near future. We didn’t have the chance to cover the SMT 5700 story when its spy shots leaked on the nets over a year ago, but we’re here this time to lay the smack down on the potential final specs of the thing. A 2-megapixel camera will be built-in, first and foremost for good measure in this multimedia and cameraphone crazed world, and storage is complemented via microSD cards.
