Yesterday, Vodafone announced that it will be carrying the iPhone in Italy. The press release was short and to the point. Soon afterwards, Telecom Italia issued an even shorter press release announcing the exact same thing: Telecom Italia announced today it has signed a deal with Apple to bring the iPhone to Italy later this year. This means that Italy is the first country to have two telcos offering the iPhone, which looks like the beginning of the end for exclusivity deals, and further suggests that the iPhone will be sold with a subsidy. Italy has two more operators, Wind and 3, and Wind at least thinks that it might also offer the iPhone. (Read the full post about ‘Italy Will Have Two iPhone Carriers’…)

The Stand Pouch is a simple yet effective idea for those who love casual photography - it not only functions as a camera case, it also comes with a built-in tripod connector, allowing you to capture self-portraits even when you’re in the great outdoors and uneven ground is all around. The tripod segment is fully adjustable just like a regular tripod. No idea on how much it costs, but you can choose from black, metallic grey and royal blue colors. Strange how I never thought of such a simple solution, as I could be rolling in Benjamins by now. The Fantasea Line FS-51 Housing allows you to bring your new Nikon Coolpix S52 and S52c digital cameras down to the murky depths if you’re a big fan of underwater photography. Don’t worry about it leaking, since the FS-51 is protected by a one-year flood insurance policy. Good thing the controls and features on the camera are fully accessible on the FS-51 even though you’re busy sucking oxygen beneath sea level in your wetsuit. The Fantasea Line FS-51 Housing will retail for $245, which is roughly the same price as either Nikon cameras. The PSP Headset Kit for Skype is now available in the US, allowing you to do more than just game and surf the Web with your PSP. This follows Japan’s release which happened a few days before, and all functionality is retained. Features include street-style earphones, an adjustable boom mic, and a remote control for managing volume without having to fiddle with the PSP itself. Just make sure you have version 3.9 of the PSP firmware installed before you will be able to use the Skype headset. Not only can you use it for chatting with your friends over Skype, it also functions as a communicator in games. You ought to pay nothing more than $30 for this I believe. Did you know that Henry Ford was not only the father of modern automobiles, he could be considered one of the first few green advocates? After all, most of the original Model T Ford automobiles ran on ethanol before the era of Prohibition, which banned production of the biofuel along with other forms of alcohol, led to the use of gasoline instead. The EFuel100 MicroFueler could roll back the years, being a home ethanol refinery. All you need to do is hook it up to a power and water source, throw in sugar “feedstock” and yeast/discarded alcohol, and see it produce 35 gallons of ethanol which Quinn claims any car will be able to run on. The price? $9,995 when the EFuel100 MicroFueler rolls out in Q4 this year. (Read the full post about ‘EFuel100 MicroFueler’…)

Filed in archive Software by jim on May 07, 2008 Pretty much every digital photographer uses some form of at least basic digital photo software to edit and enhance their pictures. These programs, even the simple ones, allow us to work wonders on digital photos that might otherwise be consigned to digital nothingness via the "delete" button. But with so many programs to choose from which one is best for your needs, and how do you determine this without actually laying out some big bucks? The answer is simple, unless you really need or want something ultra sophisticated such as Adobe Photoshop, try out the free ones readily available online. While the iphone has been out for about a year now, we’ve seen plenty of custom jobs done on it on an unprecedented level where gadgets are concerned. Knight Creations does not intend to miss out on this money-spinning opportunity, coming up with the Black iPhone custom which has been upgraded with black replacement parts, consisting of an anodized aluminum back as well as TiAlN-treated Apple logo and front bezel. The main drawback I can see is the price - it will retail for a whopping $849, never mind that there is 16GB of memory inside. (Read the full post about ‘Black iPhone Custom’…)

It seems like its been forever since we have posted anything Vonage related aside from patent disputes and personal changes that we almost forgot they were still around. This latest news however seems to be positive, Vonage and Covad Communications have announced a partnership that will allow Vonage to offer a DSL service. The new offering from Vonage will be a re-branded version of Covad’s DSL service and it will simply be called Vonage Broadband. The service is expected to be available by the end of this year and will offer download speeds of up to either 3.0 or 6.0 Mbps for home or small business customers, no mention of just how much this will set you back. LIke we have mentioned before, the 3G iphone is one of those rumors that is only going to go away when the phone is actually announced, until then we are going to see more and more speculation. We have seen a few rumored images hit the web up till now, but these latest images are a first where the phone is no longer in black. As usual there is no way to confirm of deny these images, they are coming courtesy of a Chinese language discussion forum called WeiPhone.com. While my instinct tells me that these are not the 3G iPhone, it does bring up a good question as to why Apple has not released the iPhone in more than one color similar to the ipod line? Via [MacLife] Keep up with the latest gadget goodness! (Read the full post about ‘The rumors continue, even more 3G iPhone images surface, now in white’…)
