BeBook e-book reader makes its debut, doesn’t run BeOS

BeBook e-book reader makes its debut, doesn’t run BeOS
by Donald Melanson, posted May 12th 2008 at 7:11PM If you can get past the tinge of disappointment in learning that something named the BeBook isn’t actually the BeOS-based laptop you’ve been waiting for all these years, you may be only slightly less disappointed to know that it’s another fairly ordinary and somewhat overpriced e-book reader. Coming in at a hefty €330 (or $510), this one ditches newfangled features like built-in WiFi or EV-DO, with it choosing instead to focus on basic features like a six-inch E Ink display, 512MB of internal memory, and an SD card slot for expansion. You’ll also get support for all the usual document and image formats, as well as some basic MP3 playback functionality. Italian Telco Chief Confirms 3G iPhone In Italy ‘Next Month’

Italian Telco Chief Confirms 3G iPhone In Italy ‘Next Month’
Luigi Licciardi, a vice president at Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) told tech journalist David Manners that the company will be selling a 3G iPhone next month. The quote is unambiguous: We will be selling an iphone with 3G capability next month. Manners spoke to Licciardi on a bus taking the men into the Dubai desert for dinner. To be honest, we’re more interested what they had for dinner. If a new iPhone isn’t announced on June 9th at the Wordwide Developers Conference, I know exactly what I will be eating for dinner that night. My hat. Any multitasking while driving is dangerous

More research into this contentious area has shown that our brains simply aren’t built for multitasking, yet alone performing other tasks while driving. Research done by neuroscientist Marcel Just of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and his colleagues shows that using part of your brain for language processing reduces activity in the spatial regions used for driving. Since driving is the less-ingrained task, then that’s going to take even more of a hit.

But the reduction in ability isn’t limited to when you talk on the phone or with someone else in the car, but other things like attending to the radio, eating or dealing with kids or pets.

Sony V4500 Series | KDL37V4500, KDL32V4500, KDL26V4500

Sony V4500 Series | KDL37V4500, KDL32V4500, KDL26V4500
Sony are releasing a whole bunch of new HDTVs for 2008 to the U.S market as well as the European. The new Sony V4500 series is headed for the European market, and consists of three LCD HDTV sizes, 26-inch, 32-inch, and 37-inch. Prices are yet unknown on the Sony Bravia V4500 models but we would believe them to be well priced in the sweet spot of the market. The previous V3000 models were very popular, and the new V4500 should have many great features and a lower price point than the new W4000 series. All three model sizes feature a WXGA (1360 x 768 pixel) LCD screen with a high 178 degree viewing angle. The 26-inch Sony KDL26V4500 and 32-inch KDL32V4500 feature a 33,000 contrast ratio, while the largest 37-inch KDL37V4500 is not stated. How’s Windows XP SP3 treating you?
by Paul Miller, posted May 12th 2008 at 3:23PMWell, Microsoft finally got SP3 out the door for you stubborn Vista-resistant XP users, and we’re dying to know how you like it. That’s right, you. See, our resident guinea pig intern hasn’t felt any performance improvement, we’ve received tips from people who have seen a speed bump, and problems have cropped up as well — we’ve heard reports of sporadic reboots and crashes, some of them AMD-related. But hey, forget all of them… (Read the full post about ‘How’s Windows XP SP3 treating you?’…)

AT&T says “iPhone Black” means nothing, gunman acted alone

AT&T says “iPhone Black” means nothing, gunman acted alone
by Chris Ziegler, posted May 12th 2008 at 4:10PM We’ve just received an official statement from AT&T regarding the presence of an “iPhone Black” on its model selector earlier today: “The reference to ‘iPhone Black’ was simply a temporary placeholder used over the weekend for a scheduled catalog update. It was meant to temporarily distinguish the various iPhone models-4GB, 8GB and 16GB-but was never reassigned. We’re changing the site now.” Makes total sense, right? Three models of iphone, two placeholders: iPhone and iPhone Black. (Read the full post about ‘AT&T says “iPhone Black” means nothing, gunman acted alone’…)
