Artist Says He Used GPS, DHL to Create ‘Biggest Drawing in the World’

Artist Says He Used GPS, DHL to Create ‘Biggest Drawing in the World’
Swedish artist Erik Nordenenkar claims to have created the "biggest drawing in the world" by sending a GPS-equipped plastic briefcase on a squiggly, looping trip around the world, tracing out a 110,664-km (68,763-mile) unbroken line with the help of DHL delivery planes and trucks. The result: A self-portrait of the artist as a megalomaniacal god with a planet-sized Sharpie and a rather nice sense of line. Problem is, the project is almost certainly faked, despite the footage showing the briefcase disappearing into the cargo hold of a DHL plane and a photo showing a stack of delivery receipts at the end. Why? DHL does not deliver to arbitrary latitude-longitude destinations. (Read the full post about ‘Artist Says He Used GPS, DHL to Create ‘Biggest Drawing in the World’’…)

Earth Trek to roll out world’s smallest projector

Earth Trek to roll out world’s smallest projector
As technology marches on, gadgets get smaller, and projectors are no exception. Earth Trek for example is almost ready to sell a new 90-805R projector that is so incredibly small, it is being proclaimed by the Hong Kong company as the “world’s smallest.” The 90-805R projector measures a quaint 2-inch by 4-inches and can emit a picture that is 22 inches on the diagonal. It can display images and play sound on the built-in audio speaker via a SD card slot or the 3.5 mm A/V input jack. Unfortunately, the price tag and release date are not yet available for the 90-805R projector. You can bet though if you need to make a digital presentation and don’t have much space, you can’t much smaller than this projector–at least for now. Eye-Phone Concept Aims to Enhance Travel With Satellite Information

Eye-Phone Concept Aims to Enhance Travel With Satellite Information
Future technologies are intent on giving us everything we already have, but in a better package that is easier to use. And we like that. What else is the iphone but a nicely packaged mix of available technologies found separately elsewhere? Drs. Ernst Pechtl and Hans Geiger of SuperWise Technologies AG (last picture, at right) take the same approach with their artificial intelligence software called Apollo (see full AI outline below), which they are hoping to build into a mobile device called, aye, the eye-Phone. If it ever comes to pass, the eye-Phone will include GPS navigation, object recognition viewfinders, and search engine technologies all into one. New Starcraft II screens released

New Starcraft II screens released
Blizzard has released some new Starcraft II screens to the delight of rabid fanboys and fangirls everywhere. The new screens deliver the blend of realism with a bright cartoon qualities that one would expect from Blizzard. Still no word on a release date as yet (although Gamestop is estimating early December) but these screens show a lot of polish and indicate that the game is nearing completion. The new screenshots can be seen at Blizzard’s Starcraft II website. Kenneth’s Opinion: With WoW rolling strong and Starcraft II poised for release Blizzard is well on its way to making enough money to buy the entire planet and engrave it with the company logo. Houston, You Have a Problem: Gallery Of Operation Centers

Houston, You Have a Problem: Gallery Of Operation Centers
In Royal Pingdom’s Gallery of Network Operations Centers, one thing stands out. Amongst the array of high-tech, show-off lounges which would look more at home in some James Bond villain’s subterranean lair, there are a few decidely shabby cubicle farms. The worst of these is in the home of history’s best known control center; Houston, Texas. Here we see the NOC of The Planet, a windowless back-room operation that must surely be hellish to work in. It does make us think of another legendary operation centre, though: the impressive reception room in The Wizard of Oz. Next to all the ostentatious control centers in the gallery, which are suspiciously devoid of workers, could The Planet’s little closet be housing the man behind the curtain? Sony Ericsson’s Paris; the leaked details continue

Sony Ericsson’s Paris; the leaked details continue
While the latest round of details to surface for the Paris are not exactly as flattering as the rest, this should still prove to be a worthy handset. The new details that have come to light reveal a solid offering coming from SE. The P5 is a slider style phone with a QWERTY keyboard and will be UIQ based. The handset also offers a touch sensitive display with one-touch screen rotation, the ability to browse or view bookmarks without sliding the handset open and one-touch zoom in/out navigation. The Samsung based camera with auto-focus comes in at a nice 5-megapixels, and we can also expect to find Wi-Fi, an FM radio and standard Walkman player. Palm Centro Review - Brighthand

Palm Centro Review - Brighthand
Brighthand reviews the Palm Centro and writes, “…on the rear of the Centro sits a 1.3 megapixel camera. Compared to the Treo 680, the camera’s shutter speed was greatly improved. However, picture quality did decrease. Photos from the AT&T Centro had a blue/purple cast in most lighting settings. Nevertheless, you could snap as many pictures as the 68 MB of internal memory, or up to 6 GB microSD card could handle. The camera features a neat 2x zoom that doesn’t do a bad job, but then again, except for the very high end, cameras in mobiles are just OK.” Read more about the Palm Centro. Sprint to stock Samsung Instinct on June 20

Sprint to stock Samsung Instinct on June 20
I refuse to use the “iphone killer” moniker to describe phones with large touchscreens, finger-friendly user interfaces, and slim form factors with touch controls, but Samsung sure makes the term tough to avoid with its series of Instinct vs. iPhone commercials. The 4.4-ounce iPhone-rivaling Instinct features built-in GPS, EVDO Rev A mobile broadband connectivity, microSD card expansion slot, video and still-photo recording, live TV, and on-the-go music downloads (without wi-fi) and will be available from Sprint on June 20th. Pricing hasn’t been formally announced yet, but it’s expected to be priced at under $300. Via MobileBurn. (Read the full post about ‘Sprint to stock Samsung Instinct on June 20′…)
