MIT Lecturer Develops Solar Textiles, Redefines Curtain Function

MIT Lecturer Develops Solar Textiles, Redefines Curtain Function
If you’re one of those weird and sometimes gloomy people (like me) who get the urge to close the curtains on even the nicest of days, a new solar development will give us a new excuse to do it: It might help the environment and save us a few bucks. Sheila Kennedy, a faculty member of MIT’s School of Design, has developed new solar textiles and used them to create the first sustainable, energy yielding curtains. The curtains were developed for a green-living exhibit at the Vitra Design Museum in Germany, and the coolest thing about them is that they can produce up to 16,000 hours of watt-induced electricity.           Just like regular solar cell panels, the curtains absorb sunlight in the daytime and hold it in as needed. Rock Band 2 gets official for this fall, new guitar revealed

Rock Band 2 gets official for this fall, new guitar revealed
by Donald Melanson, posted Jun 30th 2008 at 1:41PM While the original Rock Band is still going strong, Harmonix is already looking towards the next bit of kit that it hopes will be cluttering your place, with it now getting official with Rock Band 2 for the Xbox 360 and playstation 3. This time around, it seems the Xbox 360 will be getting a jump on things with a launch in September, with the PS3 version set to follow “later in the year.” Both of those will, naturally, be coming with all new instruments, including the tasty Fender Stratocaster pictured above, but you will be able to use your current gear if you want to spare the extra clutter and save a few bucks. HTC Touch Cruise Review - MobileBurn

HTC Touch Cruise Review - MobileBurn
MobileBurn reviews the HTC Touch Cruise and writes, “Despite its business image, the HTC Touch Cruise features a whole host of multimedia applications, such as a 3.0MP auto-focus camera, a video camera, a media player, and some games. I wasn’t expecting much from the Touch Cruise’s camera, as it seemed like a sideline feature of the device, and was missing any sort of flash function. However, my expectations were unsubstantiated and the camera performed surprisingly well. Activating the camera is as simple as pressing the shutter button on the right side of the device. Within the camera menu there are options for video recording, panoramic photos and a multi-shot function, among others. (Read the full post about ‘HTC Touch Cruise Review - MobileBurn’…)

Apple’s latest gadget, the 3G iPhone, will soon be available in China, according to a Reuters report. Although the iphone is not officially available in China, a report released by In-Stat in February revealed that there were already nearly 400,000 unlocked iPhones in China at the end of 2007. Plenty of iPhones have made their way to Russia and China on the gray market in the past year. Until now, China Mobile has refused a deal with Apple, because of the a revenue-sharing business model imposed by the US company. As Apple has given up to this business model, China Mobile seems ready to talk about the practical aspects of the deal. BitTorrent sites suspended by Malaysian Government

If news reports coming out of Malaysia are to be believed, a number of BitTorrent tracker sites have been closed down by order of the Malaysian government.

ISPs in the country were ordered to suspend the hosting accounts of specific sites by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs under the Copyright Act 1987. This has lead to several torrent sites going offline with little or no warning. ISPs have contacted the sites involved saying they had no choice as the order came directly from the government.

An administrator from a tracker site hosted in Malaysia contacted TorrentFreak.com and said:

Malaysia’s government suddenly forced all torrent websites to shut down today until further notice, a complete surprise to torrent admins and the offshore hosting companies in Malaysia.
