Corsair and Dell usher in 1600MHz memory

Corsair and Dell usher in 1600MHz memory
Corsair and Dell have come together in a show of commitment for a high performance computing experience, announcing the availability of 4GB of overclocked DDR3 memory that will be available officially for the first time. The memory in question is Corsair’s very own Dominator line, and these speedy monsters can be found on Dell’s XPS 730 gaming desktop that will run at a solid 1600MHz without suffering from stability issues. I suppose you had best get the rest of your computer up to par, ranging from the motherboard to processor and video card lest a bottleneck pops up out of nowhere, leaving you unable to enjoy the blazing fast speeds of such memory. Boeing fires most powerful solid-state laser to date

Boeing announced today that they have successfully fired the most powerful solid-state laser beam ever created. This really is the laser weapon of our sci-fi fantasies. Pretty soon, we could have deadly lasers attached to everything from jet fighters to cats.

It’s called the thin-disk laser (because it turns multiple layers of thin disk lasers into one focused beam), and it has achieved “the highest known simultaneous power, beam quality and run time for any solid-state laser to date.” The laser acquired over 25 kilowatts of power for multiple multi-second bursts and Boeing believes that they can use the same technology to eventually create a laser with over 100 kilowatts of power with a little bit of tweaking.

Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 in-depth gameplay trailer released

EA has released a new video for Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 detailing all aspects of gameplay for the upcoming title. The video clocks in at 15 minutes long and features narration by the executive producer of the project.

This new trailer gives a much more detailed view of the game than the teaser trailer that was revealed a few days ago, showing off building and attacking while also showcasing new twists to the franchise.

Kenneth’s Opinion:

EA is catching a lot of grief from fans of the series every time it releases a trailer for this game.

Flip Mino, easy meets tiny

Flip Mino, easy meets tiny
I’m a huge fan of the Flip Ultra video camera (sold at the Henri Bendel Popgadget Pop-up Shop last Christmas) because it’s the only video camera that I could trust my father to use. You literally need to push just one button to operate it. The quality isn’t anywhere near high-def, but for web use, and simple home video, it’s definitely good enough. The newest addition to the Flip family, the Flip Mino, adds some great new features, and actually loses some bulk from what is already a very compact camera. The Mino weighs just a hair over 3 oz, while the older models are just about 5 oz. Not a huge difference, but significant when you”ve already got a bag full of gadgets. The world’s most expensive bathtub

The world’s most expensive bathtub
I have to admit that I’m not that into pampering. I know I might get my girl card taken away for mentioning this, but I’d rather have a quick shower then lie down and read a book than spend an hour flipping through a magazine in the bathtub with some kind of herbal mask (or worse, masque) covering my face. But I know not everyone is like me. Most of my friends find a long soak in a hot bath relaxing rather than boring, and I know they would freak out (in a good way) at the idea of owning this blinging bathtub: Engadget reports that the Water Games Technologies Red Diamond bathtub is worth a jaw-dropping $47,000. Ozmo / Intel trumpet WiFi PAN for low-power devices, Bluetooth says “what?”

Ozmo / Intel trumpet WiFi PAN for low-power devices, Bluetooth says “what?”
by Darren Murph, posted Jun 4th 2008 at 8:46AM Look out, Bluetooth — Ozmo Devices has its eyes set squarely on you. Okay, so maybe this whole thing isn’t as adversarial as advertised, but there’s no denying that the aforesaid company’s latest initiative will target the exact same devices that BT is embedded within now. Ozmo has announced a partnership with Intel at Computex that will extend the latter company’s Cliffside WiFi Personal Area Network (PAN) technology to “low-power devices.” Essentially, WiFi radios that suck less juice nowadays would take on dual roles — accessing WLAN networks and doing the duties typically reserved for Bluetooth — which would enable devices to have one less component stuffed within bulking things up.
