Photos: Joe Brown/Wired We’re not quite sure what this means, but we’ve received a tip-off that these boxes were just offloaded at a San-Francisco Apple Store. Curiously, they are marked "Jaguar", the same name as Mac OS X 10.2. Obviously, our first guess is iphone. Could these be the mysterious "Electronic Computers" which have been making their way into the country over the past few months? We’ll find out soon, and we’ll be dispatching a crack Gadget Lab reporter to the scene to take a look right after the WWDC Keynote speech. Apple has announced its Mobile Me web service, and while it’s not quite the do-everything web service we were hoping for, it brings a typical Apple-like shine to what is essentially Microsoft ActiveSync, only Mobile Me is for consumers.
The $99 per year service replaces the aging .Mac and offers more online storage space: 20GB instead of 10GB. If you are familiar with push email, you know what it does. Your contacts, emails, calendar and photos are automatically synchronized through the cloud, so any change you make on, say, your iphone will be quickly reflected on other devices, including Outlook on your PC.

Want to get back at your neighbors a bit, without them knowing you’re doing it? Check out this little device, it appears to be just a fun little gadget that spits out bubbles as you ride along the sidewalk on your bike. However, it does much more than that. Within each bubble is a tiny little flower seed, which sounds fun and pretty. Yet every single one of those seeds that ends up producing a plant is slowly eating away at the concrete. Which means every single week your neighbor is going to be outside with weed spray trying to keep them down. (Read the full post about ‘Bicycle bubble machine causes sidewalks to erode’…)

Handlink’s Wi-Fi Kiosk is an admirable combination of the old and the new. This coin-op 802.11b/g access point is a throwback to better times, a golden age when the coins in your pocket were good for something other than tossing to a bum in the street whilst on your way to buy a $5 coffee and enjoy some “free” Wi-Fi. The kiosk works thusly: drop in some dinero and you’ll receive a ticket with an access code. When your time is up, you’ll need to go back and feed the meter. We imagine it’s designed to work in unmanned environments, or to take the heat off a busy barista. We like the cash-only idea, which brings on-the-go access to non credit card holders.
