Netflix claims that its online DVD rental business can peak within 5 to 10 years. Reed Hastings, CEO of the company claims that even if DVD rentals are still way ahead of online rentals, their business can still be expected to reach its peak. “Everybody peaks sometime,” he claimed.
The company also aims to shift to streaming television and movies online. They have recently introduced the Roku, a Netflix-enabled set-top box that make video-to-television transfer possible. Hopefully, by next year Netflix will be able to get into future game consoles, Internet-enabled televisions, and high-definition DVD players in the future.
Currently, Netflix has 10,000 titles that are available for online streaming.

Call us loony, but it sure seems like Nokia’s heralded N95 ends up in the middle of quite a few DIY endeavors. Sure enough, said mobile is at the heart of Sittiphol Phanvilai’s latest project: NeuScreen. Put as simply as possible, the project creates a multi-touch engine for the N95, and in the demonstration waiting after the jump, a simple pen light is used to control objects on a TV screen that is connected to the aforementioned handset. Confused? (Read the full post about ‘NeuScreen multi-touch screen engine shown on Nokia N95′…)

The Einö portable iPod dock is something you don’t see every day in terms of design as iPod docks are dime a dozen. The moment I laid my eyes on it, I fell in love with the front mesh grills covering the speakers underneath. You also gotta love the overall cranberry color scheme which makes the bright yellow buttons on the side jump out straight at you. After conversion, the Einö portable ipod dock will retail for approximately $56.

by Ryan Block, posted Jun 13th 2008 at 12:26PMYesterday we went over a few of the more confusing bits of the iPhone 3G launch — and let’s be honest, the details of this launch are confusing as hell compared to the original go-round. Of course, there were a lot of burning questions to be answered from the audience, so we got an AT&T spokesperson to weigh in on what’s on your mind. The most surprising answer? Contrary to reports implying otherwise, AT&T pretty much categorically claims that no matter where you buy your iPhone 3G, be it from AT&T or Apple, you have to walk out of the store an activated customer. That means no in-home activation, and definitely no buying an iPhone for your friends or family. Hey look! The blackberry KickStart is just as bulky, ugly, and arguably ill-conceived from the side, too. The gents over at CrackBerry.com have unleashed a huge mountain of pics of this unannounced bit of messaging madness. From a quick boo at the pics — and no side is ignored, not even the innards are spared — we can see that it looks like typical BlackBerry fare served up in a new package. Sadly, the pics are a bit unfocused, so the real nitty gritty remains a mystery — but we’re expecting a steady stream of imagery til RIM takes the time to fill us in all official-like. Toshiba has just announced that it will be releasing the industry’s highest-capacity series of SATA 1.8″ hard drives, bringing 5,400 RPM performance in single-platter 80GB and dual-platter 160GB models. These new hard drives are meant to deliver market-leading capacity, high-performance and durability in a diminutive package, targeting space-efficient mobile PC systems. Guess well will see more mini notebooks and other such portable media players with larger capacities without a huge bump in price sometime in the near future thanks to Toshiba.
The storage capacities offered by the 160GB MK1617GSG and 80GB MK8017GSG mirror those of larger form factor HDDs, while reducing the storage footprint by nearly 40 percent compared with the 2.5-inch form factor.

We told you that the LG Decoy would pack its own Bluetooth Headset, but there’s nothing like a bunch of images. Enjoy the photo gallery. The question is: what do you think? Would you prefer to have a separate headset? do you think that this is something that will not age very well or is this the coolest stuff ever?
